Pulling Up on the Left
Pulling up on the left is something you’ll often do during lessons, your driving test, or in real life. Here’s how to do it safely:
Steps
-
Check Mirrors and Signal
-
Check your rear and left mirrors.
-
Glance over your left shoulder for blind spots.
-
Signal left.
-
-
Pick a Safe Spot
-
Avoid driveways, junctions, and bus stops.
-
Make sure there’s space for others to pass.
-
-
Slow Down
-
Gently brake to slow down.
-
Press the clutch (manual cars) to stay in control.
-
-
Steer Left
-
Move slowly towards the curb.
-
Stop about 6–12 inches away from it.
-
-
Straighten Up
-
Once stopped, straighten your wheels.
-
-
Secure the Car
-
Handbrake on.
-
Gear in neutral (or park if automatic).
-
Cancel the signal.
-
-
Check Your Position
-
Adjust slightly if you’re too far or close to the curb.
-
Tips
-
Watch out for pedestrians, cyclists, and cars.
-
Don’t oversteer or clip the curb.
